Second month as Miss Hampshire

Oh my goodness! The second month of being Miss Hampshire has been a super hectic one let me tell you! Here’s a quick summary of what I’ve been up to:

David Freeman Photoshoot

Mr Hants Mark Young and I had our official Hampshire photoshoot with David Freeman at Rhinefield House Hotel in the heart of the New Forest. It is such a gorgeous hotel with such lovely staff, I would recommend visiting to anyone. The shoot was great and we had tons of fun trying to create some fantastic looks. Unfortunately I tend to misbehave a little so I had to be more sultry and professional as I can have a right laugh with David and Mark.

ABP Half Marathon

The biggest achievement of this month has to be completing the ABP Half Marathon alongside my partner Ian. We ran the whole 13.1 miles together and have raised well over £2,000 to be split between BWAP and the cancer ward that treated him at Southampton Hospital. The atmosphere was amazing and thank you so much to all the volunteers and supporters giving me high fives and jelly babies along the route. I’ll be back and I’m aiming for a marathon now so watch this space!

Kidney Research UK

Straight after our run we donned purple to raise awareness for Kidney Research UK. Our supporters also had purple on so we could raise awareness of kidney disease and what the charity does while we ran round the half-marathon route. #GoPurple!

L.K. Bennett Visit

L.K. Bennett are the main sponsor of the Southampton Hospital Charity Fashion Show taking place later this month. All us models have four outfits to model with themes behind them all. I got the chance to go round the gorgeous store in Winchester to pick out my looks with their personal shopper Amber. I cannot wait to model the garments and it has made me a serious L.K. Bennett fan!

Miss London & Miss Hippodrome

Now, if I hadn’t of braved re-entering Miss Hampshire for the millionth time, Miss London would have been the heat I would have competed in. Luckily, I didn’t as two of my gorgeous Miss England 2014 alumni did and they were spectacular. As the capital’s two pageants, this competition is always a showstopper and being held at the Hippodrome Casino in Leicester Square, the venue certainly didn’t disappoint. Well done to the winners once again and well done to the team that put on a great show!

Cystic Fibrosis Awareness

I’ve been strawfie-ing for Cystic Fibrosis and you can too! I’m helping raise awareness of the disease, and after learning about the condition, I am completely shocked it doesn’t get more coverage in the media. One young man from my home town who has cystic fibrosis needs a lung transplant at age 19 – so please join and do a strawfie! Grab a straw, pinch your nose and breathe through the straw while taking a selfie. You’ll then begin to understand how difficult it is to breathe and what sufferers might be going through.

Solent University Visit

As alumni from Southampton Solent University, I was invited back to sit on a panel at this year’s Graduate Conference. It brought back so many memories, but what really struck me was the students’ lack of confidence with their achievements. It took me right back to how I used to feel about myself and it reminded me how confident I am now. I learnt a lot about myself and how to communicate, and really enjoyed meeting up with my old lecturers who said they often spot me in the local paper every now and again.

Sleep Out Winchester

In my mind, nobody should have sleep on the cold streets. However, it is a reality more and more have faced, and we need to take action to stop it. I slept rough for one night, and during that night I realised just how lucky and grateful I am for a nice flat, warm bed and a great job to keep me going. Sleeping outside in the wind and rain, with a few boxes, a sleeping bag and groundsheet was terribly hard to do and also really emotional. I’ve definitely developed from this as a person and I hope to continue my work with the charity.

This month:

Coming up I have my modelling and presentation work at the Southampton Hospital Charity Fashion Show, a visit to Highcliffe & Infinity Camera Club (my sponsors) and a beach shoot with David Freeman for the beach beauty portion of the national final. I’ll also be getting my friends involved in fundraising with their teddies for YOPEY and travelling up to Leicester to watch Miss Basingstoke Nicola Ascroft in the Miss Popularity finals at the end of May.
