Hampshire's Autumn Fashion Fix - West Quay

If you live in Southampton, you’ll be lucky enough to frequent the West Quay shopping centre on a regular basis. It has undergone lots of refits and refurbs recently to update shop looks and layout, and it is looking fab. On a side note, I’m hoping to do a bit of scouting for potential Miss England’s in the near future, so watch out for me hanging around with flyers wearing a crown soon!

Anyway this weekend West Quay hosted its annual fashion show, named Autumn Fashion Fix, in which a wonderful group of stylists wave their magic fashion wands and showcase the trends we all need to know about.

What I particularly loved from the event was how a number of brands were mixed with one another, proving that you don’t have to shop in the same place every time, and that many brands go brilliantly with others. It wasn’t self-conceited - instead it was about how normal women can put together great looks that are on trend and will also stand the test of time.

I really liked the Tapestry Folk look – heavily patterned blankets cinched with a chunky belt to give the look more shape, accessorized with 1970’s hats and lots of glittery jewellery and bags. My favourite had to be the Accessorize sequined owl mini-bag, so cute!

There was a lot of plaid/check going on, which is great because it is so wearable and easy to layer. Also featured were some beautiful bits and bobs from Coast, who nailed colour blocking, but in particular, rocked the trend White like no other. With a touch of faux fur, a few pleats and lacey details, the look was very delicate, wintery and feminine. Perfect for an office party I’d say! Although maybe all-white is a tad impractical (for clumsy people like me anyway).

A surprisingly practical look was pastels as day/work-wear with colour blocking, or mutual tones. It makes wearing a baby yellow or dusty pink number during the day much more easy when worn with a sharp black mac or structured grey blazer.

All in all, a fab weekend for West Quay and its fashionista’s. I just hope they host a winter season version in the coming months! Fingers crossed.

P.S. If you are wondering where a) the piccies are and b) where I am, please let me explain. I fell extremely ill on Thursday and ended up with a visit to my local hospital, who were amazing. Unfortunately I had to pull out of a number of duties, including the Alton House Wedding Fair event and I couldn't even attend the Fashion Fix. However, I watched from afar on social media and used West Quay's Facebook page from the comfort of my bed to get my fix! Hence why all the links are back to their official pictures. I'll  be right as rain soon, and I'll be posting about how wonderful Southampton General Hospital, located in Hampshire, are in the coming days. Thank you :) x
