Local Beauty bids for Crown
Hi everyone,
One of the contestants for the 2015 Miss Hampshire crown got in touch and asked if I could help with their press release. So of course I said yes! Other entrants; please get in touch – it is lovely to hear your stories and we’ve nearly had 1,000 views on this blog so it is really good PR for yourselves.
Local Beauty bids for Crown
A Basingstoke beauty queen has been grafting hard to be crowned Miss Hampshire 2015.
Nicola Ascroft, 21, of Hargreaves Close in Everest Park, will face a group of hopefuls for the county’s crown.
After attending the Miss England auditions earlier this year, Nicola found out that she had been put through to the Miss Hampshire regional heats mid October, where she is now a Finalist in the competition.
She said: “I am so excited about this to be honest.
“It is great to have a goal to work towards and I have been enjoying all the work that comes with it.”
The Miss Hampshire winner will then go on to the Miss England competition.
There are two compulsory categories that the finalists have to take part in – a charity queen category and eco queen category.
For the charity category, Nicola has to raise money for Beauty with a Purpose, the charity associated with Miss World focusing on humanitarian projects around the world.
For the eco queen category, contestants have to design their own dress using recycled and economic materials.
Contestants have the option to enter into four other categories – a talent category to display their skills; a PR category, where they have to show their adeptness at reaching media outlets; a photography award, where they are snapped by a professional photographer who then chooses the most photogenic queen; and a social media category, where contestants have to gain the most likes on their photo posted on the Miss Hampshire Facebook page.
Nicola is taking part in all categories.
There is also a Miss Popularity award - where the public are able to text vote who they want to be crowned their Miss Hampshire. Voting details are available on the Miss England website www.missengland.info/regionals/hampshire. There is a small charge to vote, and terms and conditions can be found on the website.
She said: “If I were to win, I would really look forward to representing Hampshire in anyway I can – it would be a great sense of achievement. “It is absolutely amazing to have reached this stage.”
Miss Ascroft, runs a beauty salon in Sherfield-on-Loddon – D&D Beauty – following in the footsteps of her mother; whilst also working as a hairdresser at Radiance Hair and Beauty in Pamber Heath.
“I have always been around beauty with my mother having her own salon, it is just something I grew up with,” she said.
So lets all please vote to support Nicola in her bid to become our Miss Hampshire 2015!
The winner of Miss Hampshire will be crowned on Saturday 14th March 2015.
